Unity 3.5 Unity 3.5
Occlusion Culling
Occludee Static.
Unity 3.5 Beta 2
Features: Unity 3.5 beta 2 includes a preview of Unity for Google Native Client. See "Google Native Client" release notes below. Graphics Features: Surface Shaders: added optional final color modifier function (finalcolor directive). This can be used to implement custom Fog on platforms that can't do usual fog (like Xbox 360 or PS3). Added renderer.SetMaterialBlock for lightweight way of adding per-instance material parameters without duplicating the materials. Also, MaterialPropertyBlock does not have fixed small capacity anymore.
Improvements: Quality settings overhaul Quality settings can now be enabled/disabled per platform. Quality levels that are disabled on a target platform will be stripped on build. Maximum LOD level and LOD bias can be setup in the Quality settings The smallest LOD level in the quality settings will be used to automatically strip higher LOD levels. This makes it possible to strip any high poly models and all their dependencies on low-end devices. Lightmap baking now works for LODed models. The lightmapped objects uses a surface transfer algorithm similar to normal map baking. Support copying files from Assets/StreamingAssets for Win/Mac standalone players. Editor: Import settings are now shown at the top in the Inspector and the imported result below (when relevant). Editor: Prefabs now have a "break prefab" button that can disconnect the prefab from the prefab instance Editor: A LOD group that was created on import can now be updated in the scene and send these settings back to the importer. Editor: Miscellaneous LOD group editor improvements. Editor: Improve feedback to the UI about which color space is active. Editor: "Generate Lightmap UVs" fixes regarding mac/win difference. Not there yet, but should be fixed for most. Please reimport meshes and rebake. Editor: Optimized performance of changing parenting in the hierarchy window Android: Removed delay when returning to an application, stemming from an unnecessary recreation of the GL context. Android: Automatically unlock device when running development builds. MonoDevelop: Upgraded to 2.8.2 Javascript/Boo: Optimized multidimensional array operations (up to 100X in some cases). Javascript/Boo: Better linq (and extension method support) in general: 'import System.Linq;' is enough now. Javascript: Warn when bitwise operators are used with boolean operands to suggest the shortcircuiting boolean operators. Boo: pattern matching for lists. Boo: selective import support. Player: Pre-load asset dependencies when doing Resources.Load/LoadAll to avoid hiccups during runtime. iOS: added iPhone.SetNoBackupFlag and iPhone.ResetNoBackupFlag to set "No Backup" flag iOS: added Caching.SetNoBackupFlag and Caching.ResetNoBackupFlag to set "No Backup" flag on cache.
Fixes: Execution order for prefabs is now 100% consistent. It works exactly the same as having non-prefab objects. (Removes superfluos OnDisable / OnEnable calls) Fixed AsyncOperation.progress to properly indicate loading progress. Android: Fixed crash caused by some file operations (in particular the AssetBundle / CachingManager). Android: Fixed crash affecting all users with Android Basic (non-pro) license. Android: JDK 7 can now be used without getting a INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES error with signed applications. Android: Fixed regression with WWW POST failing. Graphics: Fixed Particles/Alpha Blend shader turning black when in Fog. Graphics: Fixed pow() sometimes being mis-compiled for Direct3D 9. Graphics: Flares without a texture assigned don't crash the editor anymore. Graphics: Fixed issue related to deferred rendering when no lights are present and you are using HDR. Graphics: Enforce linear lighting status on hardware that does not support it. Debugger: Fixed debugger crash when debugging in the editor. MonoDevelop: More robust script encoding detection. MonoDevelop: Fix unhandled exception when attaching debugger. Editor: Icons for unknown asset types are now cached, prevents out-of-memory crash if there are a lot of unknown assets in a project. Editor: Fixed null ref when exporting a package Editor: Fixed regression where import mode for normals and tangents on models where ignored, when upgrading from 3.4 to 3.5 Javascript: Fixed multidimensional array of struct operations. Javascript: Script attributes can now appear before 'import' statements. Javascript: Fixed bug that would case a for loop not to reuse an already declared variable. Editor: Fix Object Picker not focusing search field when being opened. Editor: Fix Esc not clearing search field on Mac in Object Picker. Physics: Fixed crash when disabling a CharacterController inside a CharacterController callback. iOS: Fixed splashscreen pre-rotation when autorotation is enabled. iOS: Fixed some scary warnings in Xcode debugger console. iOS: Fixed Remote Profiler support. iOS: Fixed small memory leak. iOS: SystemLanguage handling overhaul - now region is correctly recognized (e.g. British English will result in English instead of Unknown) iOS: SystemInfo.systemMemorySize returns correct memory size, SystemInfo.graphicsMemorySize is now estimated based on total memory size
Changes: Added KeyCode enum values for Joystick 4. Android: Changed labeling Force SD-Card Permission to Force External Storage Permission. Android: Restructured parts of the Java code found in classes.jar. Known Issues: iOS: Cache still don't have "No Backup" flag set by default (meaning can be erased at any time by OS), but it will be fixed in b3 iOS: simulator build crashes when running iOS 5.0 simulators. SkinnedMesh rendering performance on PC / Mac platforms is substantially slower than expected. This will be fixed with beta 3. The following are changes and fixes to 3.5 features and regressions...
Improvements: Editor: Shuriken now has a dedicated window for editing multiple Particle Systems while the inspector now only shows the selected Particle System. Editor: The Shuriken curve editor now shows the name of the active curve on the y-axis. Shuriken: Removed limit on emission rate. Native support for directional lightmaps in surface shaders. Display frame times for both Main Thread and Renderer in Game View Stats window. GameCenter (Social API) now loads local user and friends list profile images when iOS version >= 5.0. iOS: Xcode 4 now will clean build before making new one. iOS: Unity now will detect if Xcode 4 is using right version of control plugin.
Fixes: Substances now work Prefabs no longer get corrupted when replacing two game objects with the same name Editor: The RGB/Alpha toggle in the Texture preview now works in a sensible way when multiple textures are selected. Editor: Fixed Null Reference Exception errors in the Material Inspector when the shader is missing. Editor: Fixed curve editor x coordinates in the AudioSourceInspector so they're not shown normalized. Editor: Fixed NullReferenceException when clicking the "Renderer" section on a Particle System created with the Component menu. Editor: Gradients now by default have two keys at start and end. Editor: Fixed out-of-memory crash when opening Object Selector with large projects. WebCamTexture: Fix garbage showing in texture in first frame before video starts. WebCamTexture: now works on iOS. Text serialization: Fix handling of Unity text files with windows line endings. Text serialization: Fixed cases where text files could become corrupted on windows. Graphics: Made the shader compiler not crash on Mac OS X 10.5. Graphics: Fixed occasional wrong rendering on Mac with GLSL shaders. Graphics: Made area lights behave as "baked only"from lightmapper's perspective. Graphics: Fixed incorrect frame rate display for multithreaded rendering. Shuriken: Fixed crash when deleting a playing particle system. Fixed bug where occlusion culling failed to work when static renderers had been destroyed after baking. Windows: Standalone player creates log file only when "Use Player Log" is enabled. iOS: Fixed NSTimer backed RunLoop crashing
Changes: Editor: When selecting multiple GameObjects, only Materials that are on all the GameObjects are shown in the Inspector to be consistent with other multi-editing. Graphics: Shader passes without the LightMode tag set get black SH lighting now, as they don't need any lighting information and don't want the obsolete info set by other objects. Shuriken: Removed sort module and moved sort mode to particle system renderer. Shuriken: Created new "Emission" module which replaces emission rate and burst module. Google Native Client Unity 3.5 Beta 2 contains a preview build of Unity for Google Native Client (NaCl). NaCl is a technology from Google which allows running native code with 3d hardware acceleration in the Chrome browser without the use of a plugin. We are developing a NaCl executable which can run unity3d files just as our normal Web Player, but will not require a plugin install.

X.cor.R (Prologue)
